Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Bureau Investigated the Preparations of Qingdao Science and Technology Week

The Opening Ceremony of Qingdao Science and Technology Week 2023 will be held at Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research. To investigate the preparations for Qingdao Science and Technology Week, a delegation visited the Academy on May 9. The delegation included XU Lingyun, a member of the Leading Party Group and Deputy Director General of Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, WEI Ning, Second-tier Consultant of Supervision Division of Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, ZHOU Yuan, Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission of Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, LIANG Dong, Deputy Director of Qingdao Science and Technology Service Center, LIN Qiao, First-tier Chief Officer of General Office of High-tech Division of Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and JI Zehui, Second-tier Chief Officer of the Regional Division of Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. LIU Weidong, Secretary of Party Branch and Assistant to the Dean of Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research went together with them for the investigation.

The delegation visited the opening ceremony venue, the route setting, the science popularization exhibition and classroom, and other preparations for Qingdao Science and Technology Week 2023, and also exchanged views with the preparatory group on specific matters.

Researchers also visited the "Sowing and Sprouting, Ripening and Harvesting - Special Exhibition for the Anniversary of the Founding the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University" sponsored by the Academy, the International Art & Science Collaborative Innovation Works Exhibition themed on "Where Art Meets Science · A Better Future is Created", the Design Laboratory of the International Industrial Research Department and the Advanced Manufacturing and Design Prototype Workshop, so as to have an in-depth understanding of the building concept and development strategies of the Academy.

Secretary LIU Weidong introduced the preparations for Science and Technology Week and the Party building work of the Academy to the delegation. He pointed out that the Academy has always insisted on the leadership of the Party, taken the initiative to shoulder political responsibilities and forge ahead with its original aspiration and mission; also, the Academy has born in mind "the country's most fundamental interests", and dared to assume responsibility and do pragmatic things. He emphasized that the Science and Technology Week was designed to echo the construction of the art-science integration system of the Academy, and the Academy would make strenuous efforts to plan and organize, presenting a wonderful event. Meanwhile, on the occasion of the event, the Academy planned to make the most of Tsinghua University's advantages in all disciplines, Qingdao's industrial and international platform resources, the international scientific research exchange platform and technological achievement commercialization platform, in an attempt to achieve theoretical innovation, apply scientific and technological achievements, make up for technical shortcomings and seize gain the initiative in the future, devoting itself to building an independent world-class innovation system, and making Qingdao an international scientific innovation center.

At the Symposium, Deputy Director XU Lingyun expressed gratitude for the Academy's emphasis on the preparatory work. She stressed that Science and Technology Week was a large-scale science and technology activity for the masses, which has grown into a key platform to popularize scientific knowledge, display scientific and technological achievements, and improve the scientific quality of citizens. Focusing on the theme of "Love Science, Advocate Science", the Science and Technology Week attempts to highlight scientific and technological innovation, display achievements, and conduct science popularization activities in a form favored by people; By doing this, we could create a strong atmosphere of advocating science, loving science, studying science and using science.
